Olanda Villas

The Olanda Villas Story

Our Heritage

Our story is rooted in heritage, beginning with Mr. A.R.M. Hussain, the founding patron of Olanda Villas. In the 1960s and ’70s, he became the go-to man for foreign property investors in Galle, earning the nickname “Mr. Fix It.” Starting as a humble hardware dealer and contractor, his sharp eye for design and unwavering work ethic led him to collaborate with iconic architects such as Geoffrey Bawa, Bavis Bawa, and Peter Muller, helping develop and manage some of the South’s most renowned villas and resorts.

His personal passion project, renovated with his eldest son, Mr. Ziham, Olanda Beach House was established in 1999, blending Dutch colonial style with Sri Lankan heritage to create a timeless retreat. Now run by the third generation of the Hussain family, Olanda Villas continues to honour this legacy through restored heritage stays and curated local experiences that celebrate craftsmanship, culture, and the soul of Sri Lanka.

At Olanda Villas, we promise more than just a beautiful place to stay.
